Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations implementation, upgrade, and support
Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations is Microsoft’s enterprise ERP for finance, supply chain, and manufacturing at scale. Veratas runs full-lifecycle F&O programmes, from greenfield implementation and AX upgrades to X++ extension development, and hands clients an estate that closes the books faster and survives every release wave.
What Dynamics 365 F&O is built to handle
F&O is the right ERP when scale, regulatory complexity, and process depth all apply at once.
Dynamics 365 Finance and Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management, deployed together, form the platform most people still call F&O. It runs general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, fixed assets, budgeting, cash and bank, consolidations, and tax across multiple legal entities and currencies. The financial dimensions framework lets you analyse the same ledger by cost centre, department, project, or any combination, without bolting on a separate reporting cube. For groups that operate across borders, intercompany accounting and elimination are part of the standard product.
On the operations side, F&O covers procurement and sourcing, inventory and warehouse management, production control for discrete, process, and lean manufacturing, master planning, and asset management. Warehouse mobile workflows run on the Warehouse Management app. This is enterprise ERP, not mid-market: the data model, the security surface, and the configuration depth are all built for organisations with complex multi-site operations and hundreds or thousands of users, which is precisely why a disciplined implementation matters.
End-to-end Dynamics 365 F&O capability
From a first implementation through to a mature, optimised estate, Veratas covers every stage of the F&O lifecycle.
Greenfield implementation
Full F&O implementations using FastTrack-aligned delivery: chart of accounts and financial dimensions, legal entity structure, the segregation-of-duties security model, and module configuration across Finance, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing, all set up to close the books cleanly from month one.
AX to F&O upgrades
Structured upgrades from Dynamics AX 2009 and AX 2012 to Dynamics 365 F&O: code analysis, X++ re-platforming from over-layering to extensions, data migration via the upgrade tooling, and parallel-run validation with a documented cutover runbook.
X++ extension development
Custom F&O functionality delivered as X++ extensions and event handlers to Microsoft AppSource standards. No over-layering, so customisations are not invalidated by Microsoft service updates and survive every release wave intact.
Dual-write and integration
Dual-write integration between F&O and Dataverse so Dynamics 365 Sales, Field Service, and Power Platform share live finance and supply chain data, plus inbound and outbound integration through the data management framework and APIs.
Reporting and analytics
Financial and operational reporting on Microsoft Fabric and Power BI, fed by the F&O data lake, replacing brittle spreadsheet extracts with governed, refresh-managed models the finance team trusts.
Managed support
SLA-backed managed support covering One Version release assessment, regression testing in a sandbox, extension maintenance, environment management through Lifecycle Services, and quarterly roadmap reviews.
A disciplined F&O delivery model
Every F&O programme runs through five governed phases with documented deliverables and explicit acceptance criteria at each gate.
Discover
Stakeholder interviews, current-state assessment, and a fit-gap analysis against standard F&O functionality. We output a fixed-price proposal with scope, a phased timeline, the integration inventory, and the acceptance criteria each later phase will be measured against.
Design
Solution and data architecture, the financial dimension and legal entity model, the role-based security and segregation-of-duties design, integration design, and a customisation disposition catalogue. The deliverable is a signed-off functional design document.
Build
Configuration across all in-scope modules, X++ extension development, integration build including dual-write, and data migration pipelines. Work runs in agile sprints with bi-weekly demonstrations against real business scenarios using a conference-room-pilot approach.
Validate
User acceptance testing scripted from business processes, defect triage, parallel-run reconciliation of the general ledger, performance testing, and the FastTrack go-live readiness review with Microsoft’s solution assessment.
Operate
Cutover over a planned window, 30-day hypercare with the build team on hand, then managed support: One Version release-wave assessment, regression testing, and quarterly business and roadmap reviews.
Living with One Version and the release waves
F&O is continuously serviced. The implementation choices you make decide whether that is routine or painful.
Microsoft ships F&O on a One Version model: monthly service updates and two major release waves a year, in spring and autumn. You cannot opt out indefinitely, and you can pause an update only a limited number of times. An estate built the wrong way, with over-layered code or customisations that touch standard objects directly, turns every wave into a regression project. An estate built on extensions, event handlers, and chain-of-command treats updates as a controlled, testable event.
Veratas builds every customisation as an extension from day one, and our managed support service runs each release wave as a defined cycle: review the release notes for relevant changes, apply the update to a sandbox, run an automated and scripted regression pass, then promote through environments using Lifecycle Services and Azure DevOps build pipelines. The result is that staying current costs predictable effort rather than emergency remediation, and you keep access to new finance and supply chain capability as Microsoft ships it.
Why enterprises choose Veratas for F&O
Enterprise ERP needs deep Microsoft technical skill and disciplined programme delivery in equal measure. Veratas brings both.
FastTrack-aligned delivery
Programmes delivered through documented phases with decision gates and the Microsoft FastTrack solution assessment built in, so go-live readiness is evidenced, not assumed.
Update-safe customisations
Every customisation is an X++ extension or event handler. Your F&O environment absorbs Microsoft’s twice-yearly release waves without re-work or regression firefighting.
Finance and analytics depth
F&O paired with Microsoft Fabric and Power BI, giving the finance team governed, analytics-ready reporting on consistent numbers rather than reconciled-by-hand extracts.
Certified, role-based consultants
Microsoft-certified F&O consultants across Finance, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing functional areas, plus X++ developers. The architect who designs your solution stays through to go-live.
Honest scoping
We push standard functionality first and customisation only where it earns its place, because every extension is something you maintain through every future update.
